Cheryl Cole
ABA Tutor
Hi, I’m Cheryl! I grew up in Northampton, so not too far from the city. I moved to London when I was 18 years old to complete an undergraduate degree in Dance Studies. I always knew I wanted a career working with special needs, and my route within the arts helped facilitate this.
After graduating from Roehampton University in 2014, I enrolled on the graduate scheme programme at TreeHouse School where I started my ABA journey. It was here I gained invaluable experience as an ABA tutor and was certain I had found my pathway. Since then, I have gained national and international experience in a variety of settings. These vary from SEN and mainstream schools, home programmes, community-based programmes, clinical environments and assisting PhD programmes. My time working as a Behaviour Therapist in Australia was one of my biggest drivers to further my education and enrol for a master’s degree. Therefore, I moved to North Wales in 2020 to study Applied Behaviour Analysis at Bangor University. I am currently obtaining supervision hours to become Board Certified.
I have a strong belief that learning should be fun and building rapport with the little one is the best way to enrich that learning experience. I believe working closely with families is imperative for success. As they say—it takes a village to raise a child! Learning through play can be so effective, and one of my favourite things to teach is communication. Nothing beats the feeling when a child realises they can be understood!
My biggest passion has to be travelling and hiking—and sometimes even combining the two! One of my proudest achievements so far has been backpacking solo for two years in 2017-2019. I have had the bug ever since and am still partial to grabbing my backpack and exploring a country without any real plan.
