Jennifer Fuentes Perez
Speech & Language Therapist
Hola! I was born in ‘The City That Never Sleeps’. You guessed right: New York City! I grew up in a Latino household, which encouraged me to learn both Spanish and English from a very young age.
I discovered my love for working with young children during my teenage years while volunteering in summer camps and babysitting. I was honoured to grow up with amazing family, friends, and educators that encouraged and help me discover a career that would allow me to integrate my love for serving others, support children’s development and being creative.
I obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education in 2009 at the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus and a Master of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology in 2011 at the University of Puerto Rico, Medical Sciences Campus. I am a certified member of the American Speech-Language Association (ASHA) and obtained the More Than Words Certification offered by The Hanen Centre.
A few months after my graduation, I went back to New York City to work full-time as an Early Intervention Speech Therapist for a private company. I had the privilege to work and coach lovely families with children between birth and 3 years of age who presented speech and developmental delays and/or disorder. I also supported autistic children who presented a language disorder and/or social communication challenges.
About a decade later, I find myself living in another beautiful city, creating new memories for my own as well as striving to create fun play-based experiences to best support children’s development. I provide therapy for nursery to school-aged children with social communication challenges and speech and language disorders of ranging levels of difficulty.
In addition to being a speech and language therapist, I love all things arts and crafts, learning new skills, nature walks, travelling, and creating new memories.
