Karen Beltran
ABA Tutor / Registered Behavior Technician
Hola everyone! I am from the fantastic city of Cartagena, Colombia (in South America) where I grew up with a wonderful and modest childhood. I lived there until my teenage years when I moved to Seattle, Washington with my family.
I have always been fascinated by the study of people’s mind and behavior and felt that studying psychology would open the doors for me into a career which channeled my passion. I decided to study Psychology at Houston Baptist University which involved me moving down to the warm state of Texas. Following an internship in Spain where I had the opportunity to assist both children and adults to learn and develop functional skills for daily living and integrating into the world around them, I knew that supporting children was my true calling.
After graduating with my Bachelor Degree in Psychology, I qualified as a Registered Behavioural Technician (RBT) to be able to practice Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Whilst studying for my Masters of Education at the same University in Houston, I worked for two years as an RBT in a clinic which specialises in early intervention for children. Life takes interesting turns and before long, I met my British husband and soon after found myself in London.
I really enjoy exploring London and using my new-found closeness to Europe to go and discover new places (I love Italy!). I have a real passion for classical music and love to cook and introduce my native Colombian cuisine to friends. I like taking long walks in the wonderful parks and countryside on offer here and also seeking out the best Latin spots in the city on weekends!
