Mariz Solis
ABA Tutor
Uy, Hello, Kumusta? I hope everything is wonderful. In case you didn’t guess, the translation of what I said was “hello, how are you?” But “uy” is an expression used in the Philippines, where I’m originally from. Growing up, I always knew I wanted to work with children. I think I realized that in preschool. Since then, my life experiences have steered me toward making a positive impact on children’s lives. What I love most about working with kids is seeing how you can help them feel nurtured and supported.
I created my own magic within the four corners of the classroom as an Early Childhood Educator and SEN Tutor back in the Philippines. From play-base art activities to downtime just to keep the little ones motivated. As an SEN Tutor, I collaborated with Occupational Therapists and Speech and Language Therapists to create lesson plans based on therapy sessions, guiding each child’s improvement. This experience encouraged me to take on the next big adventure.
Then, I felt like I had to further explore my path to understand child development better, my background due to my bachelor’s degree in psychology and my journey as an Early Childhood Educator and SEN Tutor. It further inspired me to travel to London for an MSc in Developmental Psychology in Sheffield. This master’s degree laid the foundation for a holistic understanding of how to be a positive figure of support in children’s lives.
My adventure at The Children’s Place feels like I’m exactly where I’m meant to be, surrounded by people who share my dreams and passion.
Yep, that’s me, Mariz. Besides that, I love Do-it-Yourself activities with friends, exploring new places, discovering new interests, and I’m into K-pop, surprise toys, and matcha.
