Occupational Therapist
Mabuhay! A formal greeting in Filipino that literally means “live” and can also be used to wish someone a good life, health, and prosperity. Short yet impactful – I’d like to think that I am the same!
I grew up in 1 of the 7,640 islands of the Philippines, where I spent my childhood exploring the outdoors and learning the value of human connection. As a child, my heroes were the teachers and caregivers who made learning fun and accessible, especially for those who struggled. This passion for supporting others led me to a career in Occupational Therapy. What I love most about being an Occupational Therapist (OT) is the ability to make a lasting impact on children’s lives. Whether it’s helping a child gain the confidence to tie their shoes or supporting a family in adapting their home environment, being part of a child’s journey to independence is incredibly rewarding.
My career in occupational therapy has taken me through various settings, including hospitals, schools, and private practices. I’ve worked with children of all ages who face a range of challenges, mostly children with autism, developmental delays and sensory processing issues to motor coordination difficulties and learning disabilities. Each child is unique, and I cherish the creativity required to tailor my approach to their individual needs, ensuring the therapy is not only effective but also fun and engaging for them.
I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy from De La Salle Medical and Health Sciences Institute. Additionally, I have completed specialized certifications in developmental play and have an ongoing postgraduate training for Ayres Sensory Integration, which have enriched my practice and expanded the range of interventions I can offer. Moreover, I have successfully published 44 Occupational Therapy Resource Programs in December 2023 which were used in our local community with topics covering Activities of Daily Living, Development of Pre-writing Skills, Performing Arts, Feeding Difficulties, and other related topics.
With 5 years of experience working with children, I’ve learned that therapy is not just about physical milestones—it’s about emotional growth, a child’s sense of joy, fostering self-esteem, and creating an environment where children feel safe to explore their abilities. I approach each session with patience, empathy, and a deep respect for the child’s pace.
Outside of work, I’m passionate about dance and music (my parents used to call me ‘happy feet’), and being outdoors for hiking and long walks!
I am excited to meet you and be a part of your little one’s TCP journey!
